Artist Statement

While doing a series concerning the legend of the dogwood tree I discovered the work of Jim Dine and his use of everyday objects, such as bathrobes, to represent the essence of manhood. Intrigued I explored different mediums to get at the essence of the dogwood blossom. How could I simplify the image yet achieve a sense of beauty and spirituality that the legend suggests? Here are four examples for you to enjoy.
