Top 10 Reasons to Visit the Stutz Open House This Weekend

The Stutz Artists Association is throwing a big party in a big space – in fact, it’s a full city block of creative expression! More than 60 artists will open their doors to partygoers, art lovers and families during the two-day event this weekend. Here are 10 reasons to come to the Stutz this weekend for the Raymond James Stutz Artists Open House (in no particular order):

1. You’ll see a variety of mediums all under one roof: The best place to begin is the FIRST STOP exhibit in the Stutz Art Gallery on the first floor. Sample art from the Open House artists, find your favorites and then head upstairs to their studios. Paintings, drawings, jewelry, sculptures, photography, furniture, and more are created in Stutz studios.

2. You’ll enjoy tasty treats and drinks: Bearcats, the in-house restaurant on the first floor, will be open as well as their beverage stations throughout the building. You’ll find food trucks outside the 10th Street entrance and additional food and sweets on the upper floors featuring CK Cuisine, Chocolate for the Spirit, Gigi’s Cupcakes and Litterally Divine Chocolate, as well as in many artists’ studios.

3. The event is kid-friendly: Kids 12 and under get in free! Saturday features an art-inspired scavenger hunt (ages 5-12), hands-on painting activity, artists’ demonstrations, free cookies from Raymond James, and more.

4. It’s affordable: Purchase advance, discounted tickets at by 5 pm on Friday or at the Stutz Business and Arts Center office (1060 N. Capitol Ave. C200) for just $12. Tickets are good for both days.

5. You’re supporting a great cause: The Raymond James Stutz Artists Open House serves as the sole fund raiser for the Stutz Residency Program. Since 1996, the Stutz Artists Association has provided 31 individuals with studio space valued at more than $135,000.

6. Take a tour of Artisan Autos: During the Open House, you have the opportunity to see and learn about the vintage and collectible cars which are on display in this former Stutz Motor Car factory.

7. You can paint your own masterpiece: Visit the 4th floor near elevator D to paint your own complimentary masterpiece with Wine & Canvas.

8. You’ll be entertained: In addition to great artists, the Open House will feature the sounds of musicians such as Cathy Morris, Hex Mundi, Travers Mark, Dave Petty, Joe Hart, Jazz Duo Steve & John, Charlie Ballantine and Soul Palace.

9. Artists will demonstrate their work on Saturday: Every half hour, from 2:30-6:30 pm, you can watch several artists at work: painting, drawing, jewelry making and more.
