The Stutz Artists Association is teaming up with the American Heart Association to present "PUMP," an exhibition featuring work that explores the human heart, during American Heart Month.

Artwork in the group show will include pieces related to a heart, mechanical pump, shoes, a fire engine and more.

 

Participating artists include Faith Blackwell, Susan Brewer, Martha Carlson, Shawn Causey, Andy Chen, Leigh Dunnington-Jones, Jeffrey Scott Hofer, Jane Knight, JanettMarie, Karen Masbaum, Carol L. Myers, Ginny Taylor Rosner, Martha Sando, Taylor Smith, Kathleen O'Neil Stevens, Judith Sturges, Michael Swolsky, Dina Verplank and Vicky Shaffer White.

Artists will donate 10 percent of sales to Go Red For Women, a national movement founded by the American Heart Association to help women fight back against their No. 1 killer – heart disease.

Carol L. Myers, an artist and former nurse who worked in a coronary care unit, has produced 40 original prints that are available for a minimum $25 donation.  All proceeds from those will benefit the Go Red For Women.

The exhibition opens February 4 (National Wear Red Day) at STUTZARTSPACE at noon with a reception from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., in conjunction with the Indianapolis Downtown Artists & Dealers Association's (IDADA) monthly First Friday gallery tour. The Stutz building will be illuminated with red lights that night, and all attendees are encouraged to wear red. The show runs through Feb. 25. The gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays, or by appointment.

STUTZARTSPACE is a nonprofit visual art center on the first floor of the Stutz Business Center.
