When considering the art exhibition "Voices: Women of a Certain Age," it could be tempting to make assumptions about the women and art being featured - after all, the artists are all "products of the '60s" who remember ERA parades, bra burning and the emergence of feminism. But don't jump to conclusions - those days and the artists' gender helped to shape their work, but their artistic voices also were informed by decades of personal realities and creative passions.

The result is an exhibition that helps us see the beauty that emerges when shared experiences and individual vision merge.

Voices: Women of a Certain Age runs October 1-29 at the STUTZARTSPACE gallery, a nonprofit visual art center on the first floor of the Stutz Business Center.

Artists JanettMarie, Leigh Dunnington-Jones, Jane Knight, Karen S. Masbaum, Carol L. Myers, Kathleen O'Neil Stevens, Julie Candler Perigo, Judith Layson Sturges, Martha Vaught and Julia Zollman Wickes will exhibit jewelry, paintings, mosaics, wood cutting, and pen-and-ink drawings.

An October 1 opening-night reception from 5 to 9 p.m. will feature wine and appetizers.

Artists will donate 20 percent of artwork sales to St. Margaret's Hospital Guild, which raises funds for Wishard Hospital for such program enhancements as the St. Margaret's Diagnostic Breast Center and mobile mammography services. Stutz artists have been involved with the Guild's major fundraiser, the Decorators' Show House, for several years.
