"Drew Etienne: World 2"
March 7– March 28, 2014
"Phantom Frontiers" by Drew Etienne
Our online lives and obsession with immersion in digital realms have created a second world, or "subworld" within our physical reality. Drew Etienne’s abstract and surreal paintings acknowledge the influence that interactive media has had on our modern culture.
Etienne’s work comes from a fascination with video games, science fiction, the natural landscape, architecture, industrialization, the cosmos. “There is something equally frustrating and intriguing about peering into spaces that you cannot physically reach. It triggers something in our innate human desire for exploration, and it's one of my favorite parts of creating two-dimensional art.”
