Photography
I am a spontaneous photographer, capturing the essence of a moment and not investing time and energy scripting what that moment might be. My passions are patterns and structure, be they natural or manmade. I’m also drawn to unprompted events telling stories about how God’s creatures (human and otherwise) live their daily lives.
Bio
I was introduced to photography early in my life by my mother’s father who was the prototypical family photographer—taking far too long to set things up and still achieving mediocre results. (Indeed, I still have his Leica IIIf system.) I did the usual yearbook and news paper pursuits in high school and college with borrowed equipment. I bought my first 35mm body and 50mm lens in the mid-70s, but it wasn’t until the late 80s that I graduated to semi-pro and pro gear. I also started attending workshops and participating in photo safaris (e.g., lots of winter photography in Yellowstone and Acadia National Parks). Then in the late 90s I opened a studio/gallery in the Stutz which I still have today.
