Todd’s art merges classical graphite drawing techniques with modern technology to explore the intricate effects of social media on mental health. His work invites viewers to engage deeply with themes of overstimulation and digital influence, fostering conversations about the often-overlooked psychological impact of our online lives.

In his piece *Agony*, Todd reinterprets the Grecian sculpture *Laocoön and His Sons*, a renowned symbol of human suffering, to parallel today’s struggles with social media. Laocoön’s battle against divine serpents, which silenced his warning about the Trojan Horse, becomes a metaphor for our current entanglement with technology. Just as Laocoön was ensnared, Todd suggests that society is trapped by digital forces that shape our perceptions and realities.

Through powerful, layered symbolism, Todd’s art challenges viewers to reflect on how technology manipulates truth and influences mental well-being. By blending ancient imagery with contemporary themes, Todd’s work shines a light on these issues, urging us to question technology’s growing role in our personal and collective psyche.

Bio

Todd is an emerging artist living and working in Miami and Indianapolis. With an amazing art education from renowned art schools in New York and Philadelphia he has nurtured and honed his aesthetic talent to communicate the message of ‘oneness’ through his Art. Growing up in Indianapolis, Todd struggled with anxiety and depression as far back as he can remember. Due to his struggles with suicide Todd has still, to this day, never lived as an adult sober from the grips of mental health medication. After a successful career in graphic design, he afforded himself the opportunity to pursue his lifelong passion of becoming a full-time artist in 2023. Over the last year, he has focused on uncovering his artistic style by experimenting with new technologies like 3D printing and augmented reality and traditional techniques. Through this exploration phase Todd arrived at a style he calls hybrid Art where he combines classical Art techniques – such as graphite drawing – with modern technology to highlight the complex impacts of social media on mental health. Todd loves technology; however, the overstimulation and mental strain tied to our online lives is debilitating for him. Through this blend of traditional and contemporary elements, Todd’s pieces reveal the hidden effects of digital interactions on our psychological well-being.
